Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, the chairman of the Union of Candidates, has offered his condolences on the death of former Somali President Ali Mahdi Mohamed in Nairobi.
He said the former president was a peaceful leader who worked hard for the betterment of Somalia.
A statement from Sharif read:
INAA LILLAH WA INAA ILEYHI RAJICUUN
I share the grief of the Somali people as a whole and offer my condolences on the death of former President Ali Mahdi Mohamed in Nairobi.
He has served the country through difficult times and has participated in numerous reconciliation conferences for Somalis inside and outside the country.
My special condolences to his family and relatives, may God have mercy on him and grant us patience and faith.
